I remember buying this car used from Ann Street Auto Sales in GR. Ironically, it ended up not too far away at Russ & Ron's Auto Services.
We found out this car was great for mailbox baseball! The 4-door allowed the hitter to swing from either side or multi-task out the sunroof! Once, I was in the back seat when my brother swung and hit the steel post, ricocheting the bat back and hitting my window just inches in front of my face! lucky the window was up! Eventually, we got ballsy enough to jump out of the car and go Bruce Lee on the wooden mailboxes.
There were a couple problems with the car that became apparent right after buying it; a leaky after-market sunroof kept the cup holders flooded! But the biggest mechanical problem was the timing belt, which led to its ultimate demise. This wasn't unfortunate for me so much as it was embarrassing for my brother: he had a girl with us on the way back from Kent Career/Technical Center that he was trying to impress when it went out. We had to leave it on the side of the road and walk miles to a phone and wait longer for a tow truck! When Russ & Ron's had a chance to look at it, they said the timing belt had "melted." A side affect of my aggressive driving technique? You'll never prove it.
